Short Abstract:
Overview of the Burn In Model, an emerging framework developed
in 2025 by Rhiannon and Michelle. Attendees will explore the
Inner Flame, Outer Flame, Ecosystem, and F.I.R.E approach
while considering applications to occupational therapy practice
and well-being.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to describe the primary components of
the Burn In Model, including the Inner Flame, Outer Flame, andEcosystem.
2. Participants will be able to identify at least three ways the Burn
In Model aligns with occupational therapy principles related to
participation, volition, occupational balance, and environmental
influences.
3. Participants will be able to summarize the four components of the F.I.R.E approach and their role in supporting sustainable change
and meaningful participation.

Educational Value:
Participants will gain knowledge of a practical action-oriented model for facilitating self-reflection, supporting meaningful participation,
and promoting sustainable change. The concepts presented may
enhance clinical reasoning across practice settings by providing
additional tools to explore occupational alignment, participation, andquality of life with clients while also supporting the practitioner’s
self-awareness and professional sustainability.
