I wanted to nominate Lisa Hong for the OTP Spotlight because truly, a spotlight needs to be shown on all the incredible work she is doing for advocacy and support of OT services within our state. Now, Lisa would be the first to point out she is not doing it alone, she has her partners she collaborates with. That being said, she continues to be an inspiration and especially what she has achieved just in the past two years alone is amazing.
Lisa is passionate about both the key role that the scope of occupational therapy plays in supporting quality of life in the aging population and is equally as passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare practitioners in the area of quality dementia care. Here are a series of highlights:
- In 2023 she saw a need and co-founded an OT services business focusing on ‘’consulting, educating, and providing personalized care solutions for the aging population. Services include home safety evaluations, aging-in-place strategies, and dementia-focused interventions. Passionate about enhancing quality of life through evidence-based, compassionate care.’’
- Since 2024 she has been an active participant with Idaho’s Project ECHO Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, both promoting OT’s role in this population but striving for collaboration.
- She was honored by her alma mater Idaho State University’s Occupational Therapy Program with their Fieldwork Educator of the Year Award in May 2025; she also co-mentored an OTD capstone student and is developing a mentorship program for OTPs and other healthcare professionals to elevate their dementia care skills and become leaders in dementia care.
- She is also an active IOTA Executive Board Member as immediate past Advocacy, Legislative and Reimbursement Chairperson and current Vice President.
The impact that Lisa actively makes in both the individuals’ and families’ lives she touches with the OT services she provides is unbelievable, but even more so, the legacy she is creating through the ongoing mentorship avenues she continues to seek and provide is a true testament to the person she is.
