Occupational Therapy Practitioner (OTP) Spotlight: Kim Hendrickson, OTR/L

Jun 10, 2024 | OTP Spotlight

Submitted By Megan Doyle

I have known Kim Hendrickson since joining our same health system in 2017, and to say that she is a testament to our profession is an understatement. Kim is the consummate professional, with a high level of skill and expertise in a variety of treatment techniques and interventions, but she specializes in some of the most difficult areas of vision and driving rehabilitation for the neurological population. In her outpatient practice, she has served so many individuals and families in our Treasure Valley community, providing her clients a path forward to return to work, driving, and participation in all valued occupations. I have had the pleasure of observing her during treatment sessions, and the way she masterfully delivers her evidence-based interventions and education with a person-centered approach wrapped up in empathy and encouragement is the definition of therapeutic use of self. This includes working with clients with significant cognitive deficits, and I have learned so much from watching Kim tailor her delivery of information to ensure it is hyper-personalized, remaining attentive and patient throughout. Beyond providing individual OT services to clients, she is also an accomplished educator, routinely providing training to other OTPs across our health system and elevating their skills to showcase the level of valuable expertise that our profession provides to the neurological population across the continuum of care. Kim also served as the IOTA Continuing Education Chair 2017-2019.
