Muscular Dystrophy Association- Idaho- Summer Camp Looking for Volunteers, Aug 4 -10

May 25, 2018 | Call to Action, Event

Announcement!

This August, the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Idaho is excited to welcome 53 campers to Quaker Hill Camp & Conference Center in McCall, for MDA Summer Camp – our largest group yet!
Due to the genetic nature of some muscle diseases, a majority of our campers are male – 37 this year, to be exact. We strive to pair each child with their own volunteer counselor for the week. To ensure we can accommodate all our campers, we have an urgent need of at least an additional 11 MALE volunteers and we hope you will join us to meet this important goal!“

COMMUNITY OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY

As OTP’s,  we hope to make a substantial impact on the lives of people with different abilities…. Do you love outdoor activities and want to help others access the excitement of our Idaho mountains?!

IOTA is looking for volunteers to come together to serve the Muscular Dystrophy Association- Idaho- Summer Camp.

August 4- August 10, 2018

McCall, Idaho – Quaker Hill Camp

MDA is leading the fight to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life. Together with our supporters, we’re helping kids and adults live longer and grow stronger.

Occupational Therapists are well rounded individuals that do so much more than just show up for a job….. AOTA guides us to earn professional development in many more ways than just continuing education coursework.    Wouldn’t it be great to earn PDUS while you help people enjoy what Idaho offers to everyone?

Camp can change your life just as it changes the lives of campers.

MDA Summer Camp wouldn’t be possible without people like you. Each summer, hundreds of volunteers serve as counselors and medical staff for up to one week to help make Summer Camp a safe, fun and memorable experience.

As a volunteer, you will be a camper’s “buddy” for the week as you participate in adaptive camp experiences, games, dances, meal time and more. You also will take on the role of 24-hour caregiver, friend and confidence-builder.

Become a Camp Volunteer

If you’re 16 or older and available for a multi-day camp, apply to join us as a volunteer counselor or medical staff member. Volunteers work with campers, providing around-the-clock care and attention. Counselors push wheelchairs, meet the daily needs of each child and become a youngster’s friend for a week. Medical staff supervise and maintain the health and well-being of our campers by dispensing medications, delivering first aid and more.

Please visit the MDA website link listed for more information and how to apply.
