IOTA President and President-Elect Participate in AOTA ASAP Meetings

Apr 8, 2024 | Advocacy, Education Programs, Event, IOTA, Meeting

This year’s annual American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) INSPIRE conference took place in Orlando, Florida the week of March 18th, 2024. The AOTA Affiliated State Association Presidents (ASAP) meetings took place as part of AOTA INSPIRE on Tuesday, March 19th and Wednesday, March 20th, with both IOTA President Megan Doyle and IOTA President-Elect Ivan Hardcastle taking advantage of the hybrid nature of the meeting attending via ZOOM this year to incur no additional travel costs to the Association.

Despite the virtual participation, this did not detract from all the meetings had to offer, including a full agenda of topics. Topics for discussion and learning from other State Association leadership included challenges that other State Associations are facing, membership benefits and support, advocacy and legislative wins, and collaboration between State Associations and the AOTA. Both Megan Doyle and Ivan Hardcastle agreed that the participation allowed for learning new information and renewed sense of passion for volunteer leadership that will directly transcend to an improved IOTA, support of the Executive Board, and ultimately our members and Idaho OT practitioners and students.

Idaho was also honored as a State Association by winning an award for Best Social Media/Website, with only two states being honored with this award and only 12 total states being awarded in six categories this year.

The IOTA looks to a future of continued partnership with our fellow State Associations and collaboration and support from the AOTA, as well as receiving additional resources and learning experiences throughout the year.
